Comentários: Salgado & Leme (1990) propuseram o subgênero Biotocus para abrigar espécies vivíparas de Tomigerus, baseado em observações de campo e de laboratório, sobre dados conquiológicos e anatômicos. Biotocus venezuelensis é a única espécie da família Tomigeridae que não possui ocorrência para o Brasil
