Nome original: Cyclonenia sanmarcos Grego & Szekeres, 2004

Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma homenagem à Universidade San Marcos, Lima, “em reconhecimento do seu papel excepcional no ensino e na investigação zoológica no Peru”

Descrição original:

(Grego & Szekeres, 2004): “The large shell of 9 2/3 to 11 2/3 whorls is characteristically spindle-shaped, glossy, dark chestnut brown. The dense striae that cover the teleconch are stronger on the apex, less discernible over the last whorl. An undulation at the upper margin of the whorls gives the suture a papillate appearance. The neck is covered by stronger, wavy striae, and it has a wellrecognisable but moderately sharp crest.

The rounded peristome has a wide, almost white margin. The lamella superior is strong, inward merges the well-developed lamella spiralis with a slight bend. The lower part of the lamella inferior is S-shaped. It ends almost marginally, at mid-height of the aperture. In an oblique view in the aperture the end part of the lamella subcolumellaris is clearly visible. The plica principalis ends at the dorsolateral side. The moderately curved, dorsal lunella is continuous with the short upper palatal fold, and at its lower end also with the well-developed basalis and subclaustralis. These latter plicae are separated from the lamella subcolumellaris. The blunt ended clausilium plate, slightly tapering towards its end, is fully visible through the aperture”

Comentários: a subespécie difere da forma nominal pela concha menor e mais ventricosa, bem como pela escultura mais delicada sobre o pescoço
