Nome original: Otostomus bartletti H. Adams, 1867

Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma homenagem ao naturalista inglês Edward Bartlett (1836 – 1908). Bartlett partiu de Liverpool em 17 de janeiro de 1865, numa pequena escuna, e chegou a Pará (Brasil) no final do mês seguinte. Daí, seguiu pela linha de vapores, navegando pelo Amazonas até Nauta, no leste do Peru, um pouco acima da junção com o seu grande afluente meridional, o Ucayali. Após cerca de um mês de estadia neste local, iniciou uma excursão de cinco meses pelo Ucayali
