Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma referência ao tamanho da concha, do Grego “macro” = grande; “soma” = corpo
Descrição original:
(Nordsieck, 2010): “Shell decollated, nearly cylindrical; yellowish-white or yellowish-brown; teleoconch whorls strongly and regularly widely ribbed, ribs straight, on lower whorls also oblique, in part white, additionally with more or less distinct regular rib-striae (R1 8–13), on the neck ribs more distantly spaced and undulate; basal keel broad, dorsal keel prominent, parallel to and higher than basal keel, neck flattened or weakly impressed above, subsutural swelling ± distinct; aperture descending, oval-roundish or rhombic, yellowish-white or yellowish-brown within, peristome more or less expanded;
superior lamella high, continuous with spiral lamella by a curve, lamellae at the connection somewhat or not lowered, spiral lamella of different height, elongation of superior lamella present, in part as strong as spiral lamella beside; inferior lamella straightly ascending with an arch, moderately high or high inwards, rarely low, in front higher, ending on the columellar edge or near to the peristome; subcolumellar lamella descending to the lunellar, lower end separated from lunella, in oblique view visible ± far inwards;
lunellar dorsal-dorsolateral in position, principal plica ending dorsal-dorsolaterally to dorsolaterally, in part dorsolateral-laterally; upper palatal plica continuous with lunella by a curve or an angle, lunella straight or somewhat curved, in part spur-like broadened below (rudiment of posterior lower palatal plica); clausilium plate in oblique view ± fully visible, distally pointed or rounded, in part with indistinct outer corner, not leaving gaps.”
