Nome original: Odontostomus dautzenbergianus Pilsbry, 1898
Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma homenagem a Philippe Dautzenberg ( Ixelles, Bruxelas, 20 de dezembro de 1849 – Paris, 9 de maio de 1935). Dautzenberg foi um malacologista belga, biólogo especializado no ramo da zoologia de invertebrados que trata dos moluscos. Ele era um amador e autodidata
Descrição original:
(Pilsbry, 1898): “Shell oblong-ovate, thin, light chestnuit with a goldeni sheen and sparse, narlow oblique or zigzag creamy hydrophanous markings (absent oni some specimens); surface dull, with very minute but regular and sharp striation along the lines of growth, and much finer, shallower, close spiral lines; the apical 1 – whorls delicately spirally lirulate.
Whlorls 5, the first with in-turned tip, the rest rapidly increasing, convex, the last becoming very shortly free at the aperture, somnewhat compressed behind the outer lip, and with three small pits; the base pinched into a short keel, behind the columellar lip two-pitted, with a deep umbilical fissure. Aperture irregularly oblong; peristome continuous, reddish or flesh colored, narrowly reflexed, thie upper margin with a small blunt tooth, outer lip with three small teeth within, the lowest low and wlde, the upper two minute and acute, whitish; basal lip with one low, wide tooth, the columella with a strong oblique fold upon which a minute whitish (letnticle is placed, another one beinig situated below the colunmellar fold.”
