Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma homenafem ao botânico e explorador austríaco Thaddaeus Haenke (1761 – 1816), quem, na primeira metade do século XIX, “muito contribuiu para a exploração científica da América do Sul”

Descrição original:

(Hass, 1955): “Shell ovate-conic, heavy, minutely and rather regularly decussate-granular, from striae cut by finer spirals, subconic; whitish gray with four dark brown bands wider than the intervals between them, the bands broken in streaks on the last whorl. Spire subconic, slightly inflated; whorls 5 1/2, moderately convex, the last about as long as the spire; suture well marked, slightly crenulated. Aperture ovate, peristome simple, acute; columella dilated over the umbilical chink.”
