Nome original: Steeriana sorormajor Neubert & H. Nordsieck, 2005

Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma combinação de duas palavras em Latim: “soror” =  irmã, e “major” = maior;  uma referência ao tamanho da concha, a irmã maior de Steeriana cajamarcana
