Observação: Esta espécie foi originalmente referida como Cuspidaria braziliensis E. A. Smith, 1915 (Smith 1915) e posteriormente transferida para o gênero Plectodon Carpenter, 1865 por Pimpão et al. (2010). Huber (2010a) considerou C. braziliensis como sinônimo de P. granulatus.
