Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma homenagem a A.B. Jekyll, membro da empresa empreiteira que possibilitou a ida do autor aos Rios Madeira e Mamoré , na Expedição Stanford

Comentários: Simone, 2006 contém um equívoco no número do registro para o Lectótipo da espécie (ANSP 109011). O espécime da foto (1) é o verdadeiro lectótipo ANSP 109311, designado por Baker (1963: 239)
