Comentário: Moricandia auriscervina foi descrita baseada no desenho de John Mawe, 1812 no livro “Travels in the interior of Brazil, particulary in the Gold and Diamond Districts of that country, by authority of the Prince Regent of Portugal” (abaixo desenho). Por isso a ocorrência deve ser provavelmente no Estado de Minas Gerais. Não foi encontrado o material tipo, ou registro da espécie nas coleções dos Museus
