Nome original: Bulimulus (Naesiotus) albemarlensis Dall, 1917

Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma referência à localidade tipo, a Ilha Albemarle, cujo nome atual é Ilha Isabela. O antigo nome inglês Duque da Ilha de Albemarle ou Ilha Albemarle foi concedido pelo bucaneiro inglês Ambrose Cowley em 1684 em homenagem a Christopher Monck, 2º Duque de Albemarle
