Etimologia: o nome da espécie é uma homenagem ao botânico britânico William Lunt (1871–1904). Lunt trabalhou como Superintendente Assistente do Royal Botanic Gardens de Port of Spain, em Trinidad, entre os anos de 1894 e 1898
